Mangakāhia Area School can be found in the small township of Titoki, which is situated in the beautiful Mangakāhia Valley, a short 20-minute drive northwest of Whangārei. There are great opportunities for the students and school to grow and it is endowed with extensive facilities and natural resources and supported by a passionate community.
Our school is seeking a Principal who is ready to make a difference and is not put off by a challenge. We are looking for a strong, competent and caring leader who has experience within a senior leadership team and is dedicated to realising the capabilities of our students and enhancing the mana of our school. With a new charter and strategic plan to develop for 2022-2024 we require a principal who can develop a vision in collaboration with whānau, community and key partners.
The Principal would work with the Commissioner, staff, students and whānau and local community to strengthen and uplift the school and address any issues and barriers in order to achieve the students and the school’s potential.
As the school roll is predominantly Māori and located within a strong Māori community, the new Tumuaki will be committed to ongoing engagement with Māori learners in the context of their whānau, and their culture, identity and language. Key attributes would include the ability to establish strong and authentic relationships with whānau, community and key partners and to be an outstanding communicator.
Applicants must be committed to further developing the journey developed over the past year to enhance outcomes for young people and their whānau.
